ParentShala Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ParentShala collects, uses and protects personal information when you use the ParentShala website and the ParentShala mobile application (together, the “Services”).

Who we are. [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], India. You can reach us at support@parentshala.org.

Who ParentShala is for

ParentShala is intended for adults — parents and caregivers aged 18 or over. Accounts are created and controlled by an adult. Children do not create accounts and do not sign in.

Parents do enter information about their children. We treat that information as belonging to the child and protect it accordingly.

Information we collect

Account information

Your email address, your name, and an account identifier. We send a one-time code to your email address to sign you in. Users who access ParentShala through a partner organisation also have a username.

Information about your child

Details you provide to create a child profile, which may include the child’s name, age or date of birth, and school or grade.

Development and wellbeing responses

Your answers to developmental questionnaires and screening instruments, including the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, together with daily mood entries you record about your child. We treat this as health information and apply stricter handling to it.

Content you upload

Photographs you submit as proof of a completed activity, and posts, comments and images you share in the community feed.

Your activity in the Services

Activities viewed, completed and rated; curriculum and video usage; webinar registrations; and progress and achievement information.

Technical information

Information needed to deliver the Services, including your IP address, device type and operating system, and app version.

We do not collect your location. The app requests only internet and network-state permissions. We do not access your contacts, microphone, or call data, and we access only the specific images you choose to upload.

How we use it

We use personal information to create and secure your account and sign you in; to deliver the features of the Services, including activities, screening, curriculum, videos, community and session booking; to show your child’s progress over time; to respond to your support requests; to keep the Services secure and detect misuse; and to meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your child’s information for advertising or for marketing profiles.

Children’s information

We collect information about a child only from a parent or caregiver acting on that child’s behalf. We collect only what a feature requires, we do not require a child to provide information, and we do not knowingly permit children to create accounts.

A parent or caregiver may review, correct or delete their child’s information at any time by contacting us. Where the law requires verifiable parental consent to process a child’s data, the adult account holder provides that consent by entering the information.

Who we share information with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the Services, and only as needed:

Google Firebase — remote configuration. Receives an app instance identifier and basic device information.
YouTube (Google) — playback of embedded videos. Receives playback requests and your IP address.
Google Fonts — delivery of typefaces used in the app. Receives your IP address at the time of the request.
[HOSTING PROVIDER] — hosting and storage of the Services and the information held in them.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect the rights or safety of our users, or in connection with a business transfer — in which case this Policy continues to apply until you are notified otherwise.

Community content is visible to other users. Anything you post to the community feed, including text and images, can be seen by other people using ParentShala. Please do not post information about your child that you would not want other parents to see.

How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise the associated personal information within [NUMBER] days, except where we are required to retain records to meet a legal obligation. Community posts may remain visible where other users have replied to them, but are disassociated from your account.

How we protect information

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. Authentication tokens are held in the device’s secure storage. Access to production data is limited to staff who need it for their work. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You may ask us to give you access to the information we hold about you and your child, correct anything that is inaccurate, delete your account and its associated data, withdraw consent for optional processing, or object to how we handle your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@parentshala.org. We respond within [NUMBER] days.

Deleting your account

You can request deletion of your ParentShala account and its associated data, including your child’s profile and any content you have uploaded, by emailing support@parentshala.org from the address registered to the account. We confirm and complete the deletion within [NUMBER] days.
